BankVic and the Australian Federal Police Association (AFPA) have announced their new partnership, in which the bank will provide financial products and modern, personalised services to members of the AFPA right around Australia.

BankVic CEO Anthony De Fazio said it was particularly special timing, with the partnership being confirmed during BankVic’s 50th Anniversary year.

“We are very proud to be welcoming the Australian Federal Police Association to our BankVic community, through our new partnership”, he said.

“Originally known as the Police Association Credit Co-operative, BankVic was established fifty years ago by a group of officers who had grown tired of police not being looked after adequately by traditional banks. They voted to establish their own Credit Co-operative – a bank for police, by police, where members are also the shareholders.

“As a mutual bank dedicated to police, we have a long and proud history of working collaboratively with The Police Association of Victoria, and it is our shared values of putting members at the core of everything we do, that makes this partnership between the Australian Federal Police Association and BankVic so aligned.

“We are excited about what we can do together, and I’m very proud to be welcomed into your community”, he said.

AFPA President Alex Caruana said the decision to align with BankVic was one born from wanting to work closely with the association’s banking partner.

“As the federal police force our members work in a wide variety of specialist and challenging areas. The demands of their roles and the impact that can have on their lifestyle and personal circumstances is significant. We needed a banking partner that could see us for who we are and was committed to understanding and supporting our members in building the best financial future they can.”

AFPA’s General Manager Paul McCue echoed this.
“When we looked at partnering with BankVic we were really attracted to the long and deep history they have of genuinely working  in the best interests of members, that align with our values and strategic direction. More than that, their commitment to evolving and modernising their service and operations is something that points to long-term sustainability, which is crucial in any partnership.”

The Melbourne-based but nationally-focussed bank for police and emergency services workers has been increasing its footprint beyond Victoria for a number of years, and the partnership with the AFPA further cements BankVic as the peak financial partner for police employees.
