Tuesday 15 March 2016

BankVic announces a community hero award with a $10,000 cash award. The ‘nominate a community hero’ award was launched by Stephen Capello, BankVic CEO and Ron Iddles, Secretary of the Police Association of Victoria, at BankVic’s head office on Monday 7 March 2016.

BankVic announced the inaugural award to commemorate BankVic’s march to reach 100,000 members this year and to thank members for their support over the last 42 years. The award acknowledges members of our community who go above and beyond their role to deliver greatness and positively contribute to a healthier community.

"BankVic’s history was built on aspirations to provide financial support for the Victorian Police community which we have now done successfully for over 40 years. Over the past 20 years we have extended our support to members of the Victorian health, emergency and public services community. What better way to celebrate this journey towards 100,000 members than to reflect and share the stories of our members that are the very heroes in these communities." Mr Capello said.

“A BankVic hero is a member of distinguished courage, admired for their brave and inspiring deeds. It is someone who has performed a heroic act for their community, and is regarded highly for their instinctive generosity and for empowering those around them.” Mr Capello said.

“On behalf of the Police Association of Victoria, I commend BankVic for launching this initiative which enables us to recognise and celebrate those members of our community who work tirelessly to help and strengthen our community and make it a better place for all of us.” Mr Iddles said.

BankVic members are asked to nominate a ‘BankVic community hero’, someone who they think has demonstrated an act of bravery, courageousness, or generosity. The winners will be judged by a panel of esteemed leaders from the community organisations BankVic serves including police, health, emergency and public services sectors.

The winners will be announced on 8 July 2016 at a ceremony at BankVic’s head office. The hero who best represents these values will win $10,000 with two runners up winning $2,000 and $1,000.

“At BankVic we’re committed to building a healthy community, one that thrives on its people and one that’s got heart. By doing this, we look beyond just banking to help our members, and look to strengthen the communities we live in. We look forward to honouring members who positively contribute to our community. ” Mr Capello said.
