Chief Executive Officer

Anthony has been BankVic’s Chief Executive Officer since April 2018, having joined BankVic in January 2017 as Chief Financial Officer.

A Finance Executive with over 25 years’ experience in the banking, superannuation and investment sectors, Anthony has provided leadership and strategic direction across multiple functions including Finance, Investment, Business Intelligence,Operations and Technology.

Anthony is passionate about communicating with the business clearly and simply, and is committed to ensuring that the members are at the heart of all that we do.

Anthony is a Non-Executive Director of Indue Limited and Non-Member Director of Victoria Police Legacy.

Scott Wall

Scott WallChief Information Officer

Scott joined BankVic in September 2016 with a career spanning three decades in Financial Services and Telecommunications Technology. Scott has held the role of Chief Digital & Data Officer and Chief Innovation Officer at BankVic, and took on the role of Chief Information Officer in March 2018 with overall responsibility for all of BankVic’s Technology.

Prior to joining BankVic, Scott held executive positions at ANZ Bank in Australia, and Barclays, Deutsche Bank, Bankers Trust and News in the UK. His experience spans executive management, professional services and the introduction of new technology into businesses to raise productivity and improve customer experience.

Michael McLennan

Michael McLennanChief Risk Officer

Michael joined BankVic as Chief Risk Officer in October 2016.

He has extensive experience in management of financial institutions having previously held Chief Risk Officer and Chief Financial Officer roles within the Australian finance sector, together with senior management roles internationally with Lloyds Banking Group in London.

Michael is a Fellow CPA and holds a Bachelor of Business.

Andrew Carman

Andrew has been in the role of CFO since April 2018, having previously joined BankVic as Head of Finance – Strategy & Performance in August 2017.

Andrew has 17 years experience in the private and public sectors, including finance and commercial positions at the Victorian Government Department of Treasury & Finance, Independent Review of the State Finances, National Broadband Network, and the Commonwealth Government Industry Innovation Network. In addition, Andrew has had significant experience consulting to an ASX listed multinational corporation, and more recently, has held the position of Chief Financial Officer to one of Australia’s largest national provider of retail supplier services.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting, Economics & Finance and is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA).

He is motivated by results and outcomes that contribute to enhancing operational performance, and favourable financial and social outcomes.

Michelle Arundel

MichelleChief People & Culture Officer

Michelle joined BankVic in March 2018 and is responsible for building our culture, employee engagement and workforce performance.

Her 16-year career in People & Culture has seen her hold senior positions in Australia and in the UK.  Prior to joining BankVic, Michelle has worked in financial services including the general insurance, superannuation and banking sectors.

Michelle has extensive people leadership and coaching experience. Her approach to achieving results is consultative and positive, and is what drives her ongoing success.

Michelle is an AHRI member and a Certified Organisational Coach, ICEL.

Deirdre Boyle

Deirdre BoyleChief Product and Marketing Officer

Deirdre joined BankVic in March 2019 and is responsible for BankVic’s member experience strategy, digital, product and marketing innovation.

Deirdre brings more than 15 years experience in banking and insurance, leading product, digital, customer experience, marketing strategy and execution for some of Australia’s most recognised brands. With significant experience in leading customer and digital transformation she is motivated by the impact true customer-centricity can have in driving sustainable business growth.

Deirdre holds a Bachelor of Commerce & Administration, a Graduate Diploma in Information Systems and a Bachelor of Music.

Mark Smyth

Mark SmythChief Growth & Experience Officer
Exec MBA, Dip Bus

Mark joined BankVic in May 2019 and is responsible for the management of BankVic’s Lending origination and Branch operations.

Mark brings more than 20 years’ experience in retail and commercial banking, working across consumer and commercial lending, member experience and strategy design, general insurance, credit risk management, operations and collections.

Mark holds an Master of Business Administration (Executive) and a Diploma of Business (Frontline Management).

He is also a Non-Executive Director and Chairperson for the Indigenous Education Foundation (IEF), which aims to prevent long-term poverty among displaced Indigenous peoples by empowering their development of educational solutions based around preserving and harnessing cultural knowledge, customs and local environment.

Penny Maroulis

Penny was appointed Company Secretary in October 2017 and is responsible for corporate governance and matters relating to the Board.

Prior to joining BankVic, Penny held the role of advisor to the Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police.

She has over 18 years experience in senior public sector roles covering corruption prevention, policy and law reform.

Penny holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the University of Melbourne, she is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria, and a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia.
