Overview

Salary packaging is a great way to use your pre-tax income to buy a range of everyday items. This is an Australian Tax Office approved way for eligible employees of Not-For-Profit organisations (NFP) and Public Benevolent Institutions (PBI) who are entitled to salary packaging benefits, to save on tax, lower their taxable income and increase their take-home pay.

BankVic offers a choice of two types of salary packaging cards that allow eligible cardholders to access their nominated pre-tax income:

  • BankVic Everyday Expenses Card
  • BankVic Meals and Entertainment/Benefits Card

Both cards can be used wherever Visa is accepted and can also earn Qantas Points on eligible purchases1. The Everyday Expenses Card is designed to be used for everyday expenses such as petrol, clothing, school fees and even weekly groceries. The Meals and Entertainment Card is designed to be used when dining out with family friends or when travelling in Australia or overseas.

Each card has different spending criteria which is in line with the relevant tax ruling associated to the card.

Are there any changes to the cap benefit I will receive each year?

No. The cap benefits remain the same as legislated by the ATO.
Meals & Entertainment: $2,649.99 p.a.
Everyday Expenses: $9,009.96 p.a. 

When will I receive my new BankVic card/s?

You should expect to receive your new BankVic salary packaging card within 5-7 business days after signing up. (Depending on destination).

Please note your PIN number/s will be mailed to you separately and in many cases; may arrive a few days prior to receiving your cards. This is standard practice. 

I haven’t received my BankVic salary packaging cards. Who should I contact?

If you do not receive your new BankVic salary packaging card within 10 business days of receiving your account information, please contact BankVic on 1300 796 902 (8am – 7pm, Monday to Friday, 9am-12pm Saturday). 

When can I start using my new BankVic card/s?

Your new BankVic salary packaging card/s arrive pre-activated. This means you can start using them as soon as your pay goes in. 

When will my pay start going into the new BankVic card/s?

Pay goes into the new BankVic salary packaging card/s in the following payment cycle after approval. 

Can I order an additional card for my partner or family member?

Yes, you can apply for a free additional salary packaging card for your partner or family member. 

If you are applying for an additional card, please ensure you have read and understood your responsibilities and liabilities as the primary card holder. This can be found in the Salary Packaging Card Product Disclosure Statement – www.bankvic.com.au/salarypackaging 

How do I order an additional card?

Applications for additional salary packaging cards are available from your Salary Packaging Team. 

How long will it take to receive the additional card?

Upon receipt of the application and provided the Primary Cardholder has supplied BankVic with all the required information; you should expect to receive your additional card within 7-10 business days.

Note: If BankVic require extra information to process your application and are unable to reach you, this may delay the delivery of your additional card. 

I noticed I can earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points with the BankVic salary packaging card. What do I need to do to start earning points?

That’s right. With your new BankVic salary packaging card, you can earn Qantas Points on eligible purchases. Points will automatically be credited to the primary cardholder’s Qantas Frequent Flyer account on a monthly basis.

To start earning Qantas Points, you must be a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Program and you must provide BankVic with your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number. 

What do I do if I don’t have a Qantas Frequent Flyer membership but I want to earn Qantas Points?

As a BankVic salary packaging cardholder you are eligible to receive a complimentary Qantas Frequent Flyer membership (saving you $89.50).

I have a Qantas Frequent Flyer membership. Who do I give my Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number to?

You must provide BankVic with your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number by going to https://forms.bankvic.com.au/form.php?c=93&f=62.

How many Qantas Points can I earn?

BankVic salary packaging cardholders are able to earn 5 Qantas Point per transaction over $20. 

Can the additional cardholder also earn Qantas Points?

Yes, the additional salary packaging cardholder is able to earn Qantas Points, however the points will be credited to the primary cardholder’s Qantas Frequent Flyer membership only.

Note: The Qantas Frequent Flyer membership must be in the same name as the primary cardholder. 

How can I check my card balance?

You can check your card balance by logging into any of BankVic’s online banking services. This includes Internet/Mobile Banking and the BankVic App. To access these services you will need to know your BankVic member number and internet banking password. 

How do I get onto Internet Banking?

You are automatically set up with access to BankVic Internet Banking and a temporary internet banking password will be sent to you.

Note: You will be prompted to change your temporary Internet Banking password at first use of the service. For security purposes, it is important you do this as soon as possible. 

How can I download the BankVic App?

The BankVic App is available for download on iOS devices (iOS 9 and above) and Android devices (Android 4.2 and above). Simply go to your app store and search for ‘BankVic’.

Note: You will not be able to register for the BankVic App until you have changed your Internet Banking temporary password.

Where can I go to get my statements?

Your BankVic Salary Packaging eStatement is available to be viewed online every calendar month. To view your eStatement, sign in to BankVic Internet Banking > Go to ‘Accounts’ > Click on ‘eStatements’.

Note: You will not receive a printed copy of your statement in the mail. 

What should I do if I’ve lost my card?

If you've simply misplaced your card, you can place a temporary lock on your card until you find it again. If your card has left your possession and you are unable to find it, you should report your card as lost or stolen. You can place a temporary lock or report a card as lost or stolen via the Card Management options within the BankVic App.

Alternatively, you may also report your card as lost or stolen by contacting BankVic on 1300 796 902 (8am – 7pm, Monday to Friday, 8am-12pm Saturday). 


What should I do if I’ve lost my card? Can I order a replacement card?

If you have reported your card as lost or stolen via the app, you will be given the opportunity to order a new card. Your account will automatically be debited $10 and a new card with a new card number, expiry date and PIN will be issued to you.

If your card has been damaged, you will need to contact BankVic on 1300 796 902 (8am – 7pm, Monday to Friday, 8am-12pm Saturday) to order a replacement. 

How do I know when I should contact BankVic and not my Salary Packaging Team?

You should only contact BankVic on 1300 796 902 (8am – 7pm, Monday to Friday, 8am-12pm Saturday) when it relates to the following: 

  • General account and transaction information
  • Lost or stolen and replacements cards
  • Fraudulent and disputed transactions
  • Providing your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number
  • Enquiries about other BankVic products and services

You should contact your Salary Packaging Team for all general enquires about Salary Packaging. This includes:

  • Discussing tax positions, salary sacrificing or the Fringe Benefits Tax
  • Eligible and ineligible transactions
  • Changes to salary packaging arrangements and salary cap benefits
