Changes to BankVic Visa Gold Credit Card Insurance, effective 1 September 2015

Effective 1 September 2015, due to Chubb Insurance withdrawing this insurance product, there will be a change to the underwriter providing BankVic Gold Credit Card Insurance and a change in cover. We have arranged replacement insurance with CGU Insurance to provide Overseas Travel Insurance as part of the BankVic Visa Gold Credit Card benefit.

Due to the numerous policy benefits and changes of the overseas travel insurance, we strongly recommend you read the updated Policy Wording booklet (PDF) prior to using this insurance. There are some aspects of the cover that provide you with decreased coverage or benefits, and there are other aspects of the cover that provide you with additional cover and new benefits. Before using the overseas travel insurance, you should ensure that the protection provided will cover your specific circumstances.

Unfortunately we have been unable to provide a comparable cover that provides Extended Warranty Insurance, Purchase Security Insurance and Transport Accident Insurance and consequently these benefits are no longer available.

For international trips paid in full up to and including 31 August 2015, you are covered under the existing Chubb Insurance Policy. For international trips paid on 1 September 2015 or after, you will be covered under the new CGU Insurance Policy.

What are the changes to my cover?

With the change to another product provider there are many changes to the overseas travel insurance cover and we strongly recommend you read the Policy Wording booklet thoroughly. Before using the overseas travel insurance you should ensure that the protection provided will cover your specific circumstances.

Extended Warranty Insurance, Purchase Security Insurance and Transport Accident Insurance is no longer available as part of this cover. 

Why is the cover changing?

The current insurance underwriter, Chubb Insurance, is withdrawing this product from the market. We have been able to provide replacement insurance for the overseas travel insurance with CGU Insurance which will take effect from 1 September 2015.

What is the eligibility for the overseas travel insurance?

You must be a current BankVic Visa Gold Credit Card holder and you must have paid the full cost of your journey with your BankVic Visa Gold Credit Card prior to the commencement date for your journey.

If I purchased my travel tickets in full prior to 1 September 2015, who do I contact?

If the full cost of your return travel tickets for your journey was paid prior to 1 September 2015, you should continue to direct claims and enquiries to Chubb Insurance on 1800 116 693. For emergencies overseas, you can call +61 2 8907 5689.

If I purchased my travel tickets in full on or after 1 September 2015, who do I contact?

If the full cost of your return travel tickets for your journey is paid on or after 1 September 2015, claims will be handled by CGU Insurance who you can contact on 13 24 80. If you require emergency assistance while travelling overseas, you can call the Emergency Assistance Hotline on +61 2 8895 0698 (reverse charge via the local operator). Alternatively, email requests for emergency assistance to travelassist@cgu.com.au.

If I paid for a portion of my travel tickets prior to 1 September 2015, and have paid/am paying the remainder on or after 1 September 2015, who do I contact?

In the case that you have paid for your travel tickets in instalments that span before and after 1 September 2015, your cover takes effect when the full cost of your journey has been paid.

We recommend that you read the Policy Wording booklet (PDF) to familiarise yourself with the cover that will be provided under the new CGU Insurance overseas travel insurance policy. It’s also a good idea to record the appropriate phone number/s to call for claims and emergency assistance.

I have a claim currently under review. Who do I contact?

For all claims in progress, currently under review and those made prior to 1 September 2015, the BankVic Gold Credit Card Overseas Travel Insurance, Extended Warranty Insurance, Purchase Security Insurance and Transport Accident Insurance continues to be underwritten by Chubb Insurance Company of Australia Limited ("Chubb") ABN 69 003 710 647 AFSL239778.
