Updated: 27 November 2015
After 25 years, our head office premises will be relocating from 121 Cardigan St, Carlton to an upper floor of a CBD building. Our new premises will provide much needed space for our banking staff. Unfortunately it is impractical to include a branch at this location. As a result, we expect our Carlton branch to close on Friday 19 February 2016. Our Financial Planners will relocate to our new Glen Waverley branch at the Brandon Business Park that opens on 21 December 2015, and will be available for financial planning consultations via our entire branch network.
With the establishment of our new City West branch located across from the City West Police Complex we are now able to provide members who live and work close to the CBD with two branches. We anticipate this will meet the needs of members currently using our CBD branches. You may be aware the historical purpose for the Carlton branch’s establishment was due to its close proximity to the Russell Street Police Complex which has since relocated.
Our board and management are committed to ensure we consider the impact to you. We would like to thank all of our members who completed the Carlton Branch survey. We will be reviewing all of the feedback and will be using this to ensure we provide you with a banking service that meets our members’ needs.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused and hope you can understand the basis for this change. We’d like to remind you of our alternative locations; City West, World Trade Centre or Monash Clayton and our soon to open Glen Waverley branch at Brandon Business Park on 21 December 2015.
We understand you may like to know more information. You can find FAQs below, or alternatively call us on 13 63 73 – our staff will be pleased to talk to you.
Why is the branch closing?
After 20 years in our Carlton premises, our head office is moving to an internal office in the CBD. Over the past few months our board and exec have been carefully considering our options and following this review, we have concluded that it is not viable to relocate the Carlton branch, given we have two CBD branches to serve the needs of our members working and living in the CBD and immediate surrounds.
Can I access the branch up until the closing date?
Yes, the branch will still be fully functional until the closing date
Will you be relocating the branch somewhere else nearby?
At this stage, we are not planning to relocate the branch somewhere else as we have two CBD branches to serve the needs of our members working and living in the CBD and immediate surrounds. We understand that some members will be directly inconvenienced by this change. We would like to thank all of our members who completed the Carlton Branch survey. We will be reviewing all of the feedback and will be using this to ensure we provide you with a banking service that meets our members’ needs.
I visit Carlton branch regularly - where can I do my banking?
We understand the impact that this change will have on you and encourage the use of our other services to assist with your everyday banking including our other three branches at City West, World Trade Centre and Monash. Our Member Relationship Managers and Mobile Lenders are also able to visit you at your convenience. Our Service & Sales staff are also available on 13 13 73 to assist with any of your banking needs.
When will this change become effective?
We expect our Carlton branch to close on Friday 19 February 2016.
Where are the BankVic Carlton staff going?
We will redeploy our people to other areas of the bank in need of resources.
You have just closed the Academy branch - will you be closing more branches?
We closed our Academy branch on request from the Victoria Police due to security issues and a need for the police to reclaim the space. We will be relocating this branch to the Brandon Park Business Centre in Glen Waverley which will be opening on 21 December 2015. The branch will be located at the Brandon Park Business Centre, Building 4, 540 Springvale Road, Glen Waverley.
We also opened our new City West branch in the CBD in mid-2015 to help serve our members working and living in the CBD.
