BankVic, the mutual bank serving police, health, emergency and public services, today announced Mr Stephen Capello as its new CEO.
Mr Capello joined BankVic in January 2014 as Executive Manager Finance and will take over from retiring CEO Peter Kempster at the end of January 2015. Mr Capello is a former senior executive of Aviva and Banco Santander in Europe. He is a Fellow CPA, holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting.
BankVic Chairman Mr John Mugavin announced the appointment: "The BankVic Board conducted an extensive search to identify the person most capable to lead our organisation and serve our members in the future. We have been impressed by Stephen's vision and performance and this internal succession will ensure the maintenance of high service levels to members".
Mr Capello stated: "BankVic is 100% member focused and it will be my priority to continue to improve products and services to members, while further growing our member base within our community of police, health, emergency and public services".
Mr Mugavin also thanked retiring CEO Peter Kempster: "Peter has successfully led our organisation through the GFC, waves of product and organisational change, and through our transition from credit union to bank. We thank him for his many contributions to our members and wish him and his family well in their future endeavours".
